    This Course aims to enable learners to extend their 3D design skills by using Maya LightWave 3D; both industrial-strength photo-realistic 3D animation software packages for modelling, rendering and animation of 3D objects. Students wishing to join this course will need to have some skills in working with computers and a little previous experience in the subject would be useful. Students will gain practical insight into producing animated characters and scenes to exacting film and TV standards. Students will be able to produce life-like animations containing characters which are able to interact. Students will also learn life-like texturing and product design. This knowledge will be vital for development in PC gaming, product design, 3d animation and visualisation for Film/TV or Print. Demonstrations will be given and topics will be learnt and practised through guided, student-centred activity. Continuous assessment will be through completion of assignments. An ideal course for those wishing to discover a fantastic computer-aided design programme, enhance their creative portfolio or further develop their skills. This course is taught using PC's.

Students will gain practical insight into producing animations and scenes to exacting film and TV standards. Students will be able to about how 3d animation works animations through creation of animations. Students will also learn life-like texturing and product design. This knowledge will be vital for later development in PC gaming, product design, 3d animation and visualisation for Film/TV or Print. Demonstrations will be given and topics will be learnt and practised through guided, student-centred activity. Continuous assessment will be through completion of assignments. This is an ideal course for those wishing to discover a fantastic computer-aided design programme, enhance their creative portfolio or further develop their skills. Although having your own computer at home is not strictly speaking essential, it would be expected and certainly advantageous. Outside class time you can do research either on books or on the web at the college. You must be equipped with a notebook, sketch pad and writing/drawing materials. There are 12- 13 students in a class. Work is essentially individual, but there may be opportunities for collaboration such as group work. You will be encouraged and expected tovisit, view and research contemporary multimedia materials. You will be expected to work 4/6 hours every week away from classes. A list of research sources will be given at the start of the course. You are assessed regularly as an ongoing process and will receive regular tutorial support. There are 12-13 students in a class. Work is essentially individual, but there may be opportunities for collaboration such as group work. You will be encouraged and expected to visit, view and research contemporary multimedia materials. You will be expected to manage your time efficiently and prepare appropriate work outside of class time. 100% attendance is desirable, but minimal unavoidable absence can be made up with the support of your tutor and materials available directly.
