  • Entry requirements Who is this course for? Young people aged 16-18. What do I need to get on the course? You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A-level courses which are based on your GCSE results general entry requirements for AS-levels In addition, to study this subject, you must achieve at least a grade A or above in Higher Level GCSE Maths.   • Course description What is this course about?
    Further Mathematics is a second A-level in mathematics which you should only consider if you enjoy Mathematics greatly and relish the challenge and rigor that the subject can offer.

    What will I study?
    You study 12 modules in two years leading to two A-Levels; Maths and Further Maths.
    Core Maths modules include topics such as algebra, calculus and trigonometry. All students study two Core Maths modules.
    Mechanics modules include topics such as Newton`s Laws of Motion, forces energy and momentum.
    Statistics modules include topics such as probability, samples and sampling, hypothesis testing and correlation.
    In the first year, you study four Core modules and two applied modules (Mechanics and Statistics) to gain an A-Level in Maths. In the second year, you study six other modules for the Further Maths A-Level.

    Many universities now require A-level Further Maths for entry to a Maths degree.
