This course is for people who want to develop basic skills in electronics and computing and have no formal entry qualifications. This course will give students a good all-round grounding for a career or academic pursuit in electronics and computing. It covers a wide range of skills that can be adapted for many specialist areas.
The Electronics units will develop skills in electronic circuit construction and testing using electronic equipment and tools along with skills and knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment servicing.
The Computing units will provide students with basic computing file management skills and experience in the use of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet and graphics applications. Students will also use a visual Programming Language to write simple programs associated with electronic engineering applications. The course will not only develop Electronic and Computing skills but also literacy and Numeracy key skills.

* Service electrical/electronic equipment and systems (118)
* Level Two Building and testing electronic circuits (222)
* Using computer software packages to assist with engineering activities (210)
* Producing computer software to assist with Engineering activities (239).
There is also an essential module for key skills in literacy and numeracy.
Teaching and assessment
All units are assessed by task evidence collected within a portfolio and on completion of the necessary units qualification is awarded.
