BSR/BHPR | AHP core course: Assessing and examining patients with inflammatory arthritis: 9-10 Dec 2013, Derby

    Aims and objectives

    By the end of the course the attendees should be able to:
    • Feel an increased confidence in taking a musculoskeletal history and identify key questions of relevance to ask when assessing a patient
    • Be able to assess joints for inflammation and undertake a DAS28, a 66/68 joint assessment and assess a patient with axial spondyloarthropathy using the BASMI and BASDAI.
    • Be able to undertake an examination of the hand and wrist
    • Be able to discuss both medical and surgical management of common rheumatological hand and wrist problems
    • Be able to undertake an examination of the foot and ankle
    • Be able to discuss medical and surgical management of common rheumatological foot and ankle problems
    Who Should Attend

    Any allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, podiatrists) who are new to rheumatology, experienced AHP’s wishing to further develop practical examination skills. 
    This may be of interest to junior doctors just embarking on rheumatology training.
