IOL Diploma in Translation

  • Objectives Prepare for this top-level qualification from the Chartered Institute of Linguists through one of the University of Westminster's part-time courses. These courses offer preparation for the Chartered Institute of Linguists' professional-level 'Diploma in Translation' examination. Students become acquainted with translations skills and techniques; they learn how to resource information and terminology relating to the subject areas included in the IoL examination, and they develop self-evaluation techniques and examination skills.
  • Entry requirements Admission tests, which are free of charge, are held prior to each term.
  • Course description Course Content

    Courses are offered over three consecutive terms and can be attended as a complete series (Term 1, 2 and 3) or individually, as stand-alone terms.

    Term 1: General Translation Skills & Introduction to the Exam Syllabus
    11 sessions (2 hours per week, 22 hours of tuition):

    Term 2: Advanced Translation Skills and Self-evaluation

    Term 3: Translation Skills Consolidation, Exam Skills and Mock Exam.
