MA Journalism Studies (Web)

  • Objectives All our applied courses emphasise core, generic journalism skills and knowledge - writing, researching, interviewing, organising and structuring information - and then apply them to the different media platforms. This is achieved through media production to professional standards in a simulated workplace environment, work experience and exposure to media professionals. Students examine a range of journalism issues - ethical, legal, historical, organisational - recognising that the best journalists are those who reflect on journalistic practice. The MA in Journalism Studies (Web) is a flexible programme of study for those who wish to combine the practice of journalism with a greater variety of academic study. It is particularly appropriate if you plan a career outside the UK. Graduates from Sheffield are working in a range of online news organisations including the Press Association and the Daily Mail.
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements 2:1 degree or overseas equivalent. Previous journalistic experience is not required but excellent writing and communication skills are essential, plus wide general knowledge and an appetite for investigation. Good computing and word processing skills are desirable. Minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (with 7 in the writing element).
