  • Objectives This course aims to provide you with the latest thinking on global purchasing and supply practices and trends. Topics you might investigate include the purchasing systems of the multi-billion dollar North American aerospace industry or global corporate responsibility within the sector, for example. Examining the strategic and tactical management of the supply chain, from supplier relationships to e-commerce solutions, you will gain the knowledge and skills to ensure that you have a direct impact on business success in this industry. The course will be of benefit to purchasing and supply practitioners from both the public and private sectors. It is also suitable for professionals wishing to move into this increasingly complex, rapidly changing sector. It is specifically designed to equip you with the right combination of technical and theoretical skills to appeal to employers across a range of sectors. A key feature of the course is the many regular presentations from guest speakers in industry and from professional institutes. This gives you valuable insights into current issues, ideas and best practice within the purchasing and supply chain industry. You also undertake industry visits and/or virtual online tours of organisations to give you real-world experience. There are close links with London Metropolitan University's Management Research Centre and the Transport Research Consultancy.
  • Entry requirements Honours degree (or equivalent) in a business-related area. Applicants whose first degree is in science or humanities (law, languages, literature, etc) and who have business experience are welcome to apply. Applicants with membership of professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, will also be considered.

    -International Purchasing Systems
    -Research Methods

    Optional modules include:

    -Business-to-Business Marketing
    -Logistics
    -Public Procurement

    You must also undertake a triple-module dissertation.

    Assessment
    Assessment methods include a range of individual written coursework, group projects and presentations, unseen examinations, reports and open book examinations.
