MSc Healthcare Leadership

  • Objectives The MSc Healthcare Leadership is one of a selection of awards offered by the University to meet the needs of medical and healthcare professionals

    It provides a variety of module opportunities designed to address continuing professional development, giving you the knowledge and skills to lead change and improvement initiatives in a healthcare setting

    The award focuses particularly on the human aspects of managing change, whilst also covering fully the key organisational, financial and informational aspects of the management of healthcare services

    Specific areas of self development within the programme include team leadership, communication, conflict resolution and people development

    The course pays special heed to the interests of patients and communities. It also takes on the challenge of attempting to resolve seemingly irreconcilable issues regarding the provison of healthcare, such as demographic pressures, resource constraints and ethical considerations
  • Entry requirements You should have one of the following to gain entry onto this programme:

    -an undergraduate degree in health studies, business, management or an area deemed equivalent or an overseas equivalent to such degrees
    -a professional qualification that is equivalent to an appropriate degree/qualification
    -experience consideredequivalent to the above
    -Applicants will also normally occupy, or have occupied, a position of leadership, management (or supervisory) responsibility (either clinical or non-clinical) within a healthcare or healthcare-related organisation
    -Applications will be considered from people coming from a non-healthcare related background who can demonstrate both the requisite qualifications and experience, and justify their interest in, and commitment to, the field of healthcare leadership
    -In all of the above cases, the Award team will reserve the right to use an interview as appropriate to support the process of selection and entry to the programme
