Course description
1 Week Intensive Professional Pattern Cutting Skills - 19 August 2013
Aimed at those wanting to learn a wide spectrum of pattern cutting techniques for tops, skirts, dresses, trousers and jackets to industry standards or to produce patterns for their own designs.
Stage 1
Pattern Cutting tools and equipment. Pattern markings and annotations, seam allowances, notches etc. Lay plan, grain lines. How to take Body Measurements and how they relate to the block.
The Skirt Block - Full scale and quarter scale. Add Flare Darts manipulation. T urn darts into seams. Skirt Styles - Panel, Flare, Pleats, Gathers, Frills and Flounce etc. Yoke, Facing, Waistbands.
Stage 2
The Bodice Block - Full scale and quarter scale. Darts and dart manipulation Moving darts into seams, Wing seam, Princess line seam, Empire line seam. Necklines, Armholes, Facings Adding fullness Button wrap Collars -Basic Collars – Mandarin collar, Peter Pan collar, Roll collar Sleeves – Basic 1 piece sleeve Pattern Draft - Draft a full scale pattern for a Skirt or Blouse of your own design to include seam allowances, annotations and all pattern markings.
