  • Academic title Professional Mental Health Studies with Management PgDip/MA
  • Course description Normally the majority of students taking this programme are registered social workers. However, we also welcomes applications from other professionals working in mental health services and appropriately qualified users of social work and social care services and carers.

    Registered social workers taking the Higher Specialist Social Work route must register for the postgraduate diploma and take the Competence in Higher Specialist Social Work Portfolio option module. Your selection of option modules must relate to your professional practice and award requirements.

    What will you study?
    A strong emphasis is placed on developing your critical appraisal of research evidence; exploring ethical frameworks; and the development and demonstration of professional competence at higher specialist and advanced levels. There is also an emphasis on ‘research mindedness’, awareness of international perspectives and the achievement of high professional and academic standards.
