Prosthetic, Casualty Make-up & Special FX – An Introduction

This fun and informative course introduces you to the fascinating and complex world of prosthetics and Make-Up effects through a series of demonstrations and practical sessions.

Your tutor, Kelly Monks, will familiarise you with a wide range of prosthetic materials. Through basic sculpting and mould-making procedures, you will learn to create, apply and colour basic wounds and prosthetic noses. You will be given the opportunity to understand and practice fun techniques such as gelatine burns and old age stipple. The importance of professional practice (i.e. set up and break down procedures and medical considerations) will be considered. Upon completion of this course you will have acquired the fundamental skills vital in the creation of Make-Up special effects.

Equipment and prosthetic consumables will be available to use but you will be required to bring facial tissues and baby wipes/face wipes (e.g. Tesco or Wilkinsons) and cotton buds.
