  • Objectives
    Creative Writing offers instructional lectures, workshops and extended projects in fiction, poetry, media and drama. You will also work with well known authors spending time as writers in residence at UCP Marjon.

    Entry Requirements: Our typical minimum entry requirements for applicants with A levels/AS levels/BTEC is 220 points. Applications from students with non-traditional qualifications are welcome.

    Programme

    1st year overview

    Core modules introduce you to a variety of genres and literary techniques. These modules develop essential skills in creative thinking and discipline. Additional modules allow you to explore journalism, drama and genre study.

    2nd year overview

    You can focus on particular interests and skills. Narration and the Short Story, and Writing for Stage allow you to build skills and portfolio material. Other optional modules include Magazine Cultures and Modern Drama.

    3rd year overview

    Modules allow you to continue specialisation, or to explore new genres and styles. Writing for Screen allows you to build skills in creating scene and dialogue. Other modules include Video Production: Drama, and Birth of the Novel. The compulsory dissertation consists of an extended creative writing project, including creative writing and critical commentary.
