  • Objectives
    Criminology is concerned with the systematic empirical study of crime, disorder and crime reduction. Criminological enquiry includes the exploration of popular conceptions of crime in the media. It is concerned with the explanation of criminal action ranging from petty theft to state sponsored terrorism. It also includes the critical consideration of crime reduction including the activities of the police, Crown Prosecution Service, courts, prisons and community safety or crime prevention. Politics offers a critical understanding of political processes and institutions at national and international level. It also analyses the ideas and philosophies behind contemporary social and political debates.

    Entry Requirements The UCAS tariff range is 260-280 points. We welcome applicatns with other entry requirements provided that they can demonstrate their suitability for the course.

    Police, Policing and Community Safety

    Profiling and Investigating Serious Crime

    African Politics

    Ethics and Society
    The Labour Party
    Global Terrorism and Society

    Work Placement;

    In year 2 you will complete a six week placement. This will help you compete more effectively in the employment market. Many of our graduates obtain jobs as a direct result of their work placement.
