  • Objectives
    This film-making course in which practice is uniquely integrated with theory , has a history and commitment to producing passionate creative filmmakers from a range of backgrounds and cultures. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate their appreciation of cinema as an art form through previous experience of film practice. The analytical and problem solving skills acquired on the course have applications across the film and television industries and the broadly defined independent and cultural sector. A wide range of contextual studies encompasses political, social and art-based practice with examples from World cinemas, Documentary, European Art Cinema and Hollywood. This places academic writing and analysis of film making practices in relation to critical reflection of work produced on the course.
  • Entry requirements
    For BA Honours: 2 'A' levels /AVCE (including 3 AS levels) grade A-C and 5 GCSE passes grade A-C (or equivalent) or EDEXCEL/BTEC HND or ND and a relevant Foundation course. You will also need to demonstrate a level of experience in the area through your portfolio.

    Programme

    Students build experience through practice workshops and varied practical 16mm film, television studio and digital video projects. Throughout the course, students build up creative collaborative partnerships through crewing and work-based learning. In the third year, students specialise in a major practice area: sound design, editing, cinematography, production or direction.
