    Offering you the opportunity to study a range of historical periods, geographical areas and thematic approaches, this dynamic and challenging course ranges from the rise of the British Empire to the history of the FBI. The department is known for excellent staff-student relations, the quality of teaching and learning, and its unique research facilities, which include The Women's and Trade Union Libraries.

    Course structure

    Single Honours students take eight modules at each of three levels. Joint Honours involves four modules from each level in History, plus four from your other subject.

        * 19th and 20th Century European History
        * African Histories
        * The French Revolution

    Level 2

        * Black British and Diaspora History
        * 18th to 20th Century British History
        * European and British Imperial History
        * Gender and Society
        * 19th and 20th Century European History
        * 19th and 20th Century German History
        * American History

    Level 3

        * The American South 1868-1968
        * The British Raj 1765-1914
        * Feminism in Britain 1860-1940
        * The History of the FBI 1909-1972
        * London in Peace and War 1900-1980
        * The Holocaust 1933-1945
        * Witchcraft, Magic and Religion
        * Dissertation
