    Course description
Combined Studies offers you a degree which allows you to study course units from Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and some Sciences. The degree is structured around a range of disciplines, and is therefore able to draw on a wide range of University Schools in order to make a wide selection of courses available to you. The structure of the degree is designed to provide both coherence and flexibility.

The Social Sciences area of specialisation enables you to choose courses from Economics, Politics & International Relations, Social Anthropology, Sociology and Social Policy. Courses from Geography are also available.

By including a Science in the Combined Studies programme you can combine the study of a science and non-science subject at degree level - there are few programmes in Britain that allow you this flexibility. Only one science may be studied and course units are often grouped in multiples of two or three. Sciences available within the degree include the Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Psychology.

    Career opportunities
A Combined Studies programme gives access to numerous possibilities for both employment and further study. Our graduates have become journalists, social workers, teachers, translators, joined TV companies and multi-national firms and have even entered scientific professions - there is no one set career path. In our experience employers value students who can demonstrate flexibility, personal management skills and abilities in more than one discipline. Graduates of Combined Studies share the excellent employment record enjoyed by the University of Manchester as a whole. Many students go onto postgraduate study where expertise in more than one field of study is often advantageous.
