    On this course you normally divide your time equally between both subjects. You study Spanish language, and the history, culture, cinema and literature of the Spanish-speaking world. In Communications Studies you examine the theory and history of communications in a global context.

    Programme

    Year One

    You begin a structured course in Spanish language to take you from A Level, to degree level by year four, and also study aspects of modern Spanish and Latin American history, culture and literature. In Communications Studies, the course introduces the key theories and ideas, developing knowledge and understanding of subjects such as visual culture and communication, cultural difference and globalisation.

    Year Two

    You develop your knowledge of Spanish and study more specialist aspects of modern Spanish and Latin American literature, cultures and history. In Communications Studies you explore the political implications of theories and approaches to culture and communications, and examine the politics of particular situations, ranging from everyday-life encounters to questions of national identity.

    Year Three

    This year will normally be spent in Spain or Latin America or both, either studying in a higher education institution, or in a school or on a work placement.
