Course description

Taught by one of our leading period costume and male tailoring experts, the course offers an introduction to bespoke male tailoring. It will start with introducing you to a basic understanding of the history of tailoring from the late 18th century through to the present day. We will look at the advance of tailoring methods through the 19th century and the changes in style during its heyday in the early 20th century.

Through practical demonstrations you will then be taken through the various stages of drafting, cutting and making a male waistcoat. You will be able to explore the traditional techniques of using a tailors square and tailoring blocks to draft a pattern, followed by specialist makingtechniques to construct the waistcoat.
