    What is the course about?
    This course will enable you to study various techniques and disciplines and gain a comprehensive understanding of working as a professional in the field of Performing Arts. You will be taught by experienced staff with excellent academic and professional qualifications in superb performing facilities.
    During this mainly practical 2 year course, you will specialise in drama.

    You will complete eight units in Year 1:
    • Performance Workshop
    • Historical Context
    • Devising Plays
    • Voice
    • Principals of Acting
    • Drama Improvisation
    • Singing
    • Mime
    • Physical Theatre 1

    You will complete nine units in Year 2:
    • Rehearsing
    • Performing
    • The Performing Arts Business
    • Acting Auditions
    • Acting Techniques
    • Plus 3 from: Film & TV Acting, Directing, Script Writing, Physical Theatre 2, Musical Theatre

    How long does it last?
    2 years.

    Who is the course suitable for?
    If you are a keen performer of drama and interested in a career in some aspect of the performing arts, this course will enable you to develop your interest.

    What grades do I need?

    You need 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (Drama/Creative Arts, English Language or English Literature) or BTEC First Diploma in a related subject.
    You should have an aptitude for drama or the technical aspects of theatre. Exceptions could be made according to age and/or experience.

    How is the course assessed?
    Mainly through continuous assessment of course work, including written assignments.

    What can the course lead to?
    The Diploma provides an acceptable qualification for Degree and other HE courses in Performing Arts and other areas. You may want to go straight into employment, either performing or working for a theatre or dance/drama company as an arts administrator, or some related area of creative activity. With the support of your employer, you could continue your studies and gain higher qualifications.
