    Who is this course for? Young people aged 16-18. What do I need to get on the course? You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A-level courses which are based on your GCSE results general entry requirements for AS-levels In addition to do this course you will need to have a grade C at GCSE in both Maths and English language plus at least BB in science.

    What is this course about?
    The study of biology through a series of topics which promote a detailed understanding of the principles in real life contexts.

    What will I study?

    You will gain a thorough theoretical knowledge of the subject to enable you to progress to study biology or medicine at degree level (note that A -Level chemistry is also required to study biological subjects at degree level). You will learn through the study of contemporary real-life contexts, with biological principles introduced as they are needed, to enable your understanding.

    For example in the topic entitled `Genes and Health+ you will study cystic fibrosis; its genetic causes, its effects on the structure and function of proteins in the cell membranes which affect membrane transport; how it is inherited, how it may be treated by modern gene therapy techniques, and the dilemma involved in genetic counseling of parents who carry the gene. You will take part in experiments, discussions, visits and interactive online activities from the course+s own website., ,

    What can I do after the course?

    Close to 80% of our A-level students progress to Higher Education. Alternatively, you could choose to enter employment.
