What is this course about?
Studying a language opens doors which remain closed to other people: not only will your career options be significantly better, but you will also have a wider understanding of other cultures and world affairs, as well as making new friends in other countries. Not only that, but it has been proven that learning a language boosts brain power, which means that you will do better in your other subjects too!
What will I study?
You build on the basics you developed at GCSE by studying a range of topics, including youth culture and concerns, health & fitness, tourism and environmental issues, education and employment.
Assessment is exam based: a speaking unit and a unit that tests listening, reading and writing skills.
You will continue to study new topics, including international events, religion and beliefs and cultural topics. Assessment will include a further oral exam, plus essay writing and translation.
