  • Course description

Illustration is all about finding visual solutions to communicate or visually extend an idea, message or text. With personalised help from your tutor Jacq Forrest, a professional Illustrator, Image Maker and experienced workshop leader, working between England and France, this course explores ways in which you can develop your personal style of image making in the context of Illustration.

You will work through the brainstorming, research and development of visual ideas to create illustrations in both 2 and 3D for editorial, publishing and narrative. Sketchbooks will be essential to build confidence in the process of visual problem solving, drawing, gathering and thinking through of ideas. Over the course you will be encouraged to visit and record exhibitions and collect images on which to inspire your practice.

Looking at historical and contemporary approaches to art, design and illustration will help to inform the development of your artwork and to understand illustration in the context of visual culture today.

You will use these tools and techniques to create an illustration using traditional and/or three-dimensional media for a variety of briefs using your developed practical style with confidence.
