Working in pairs, students will learn to perfect the techniques of Indian Head Massage using the widely-used oil medium. Movements covered include effleurage and holistic holds. You will learn the benefits and contra-indications of this type of massage, client care and record keeping.
In order to gain the qualification you will be required to successfully complete a number of practical assessments, which must be performed on paying clients (not fellow students) It is possible to complete all your practical assessment during the course, however any remaining assessment can be done later in the school salon 'client days'. There is also a short project, and a portfolio of evidence to compile. You will need to return to the school to sit a written paper after home study.
Before embarking on this course, you must already hold a recognised qualification in Human Anatomy & Physiology, or have completed the Anatomy & Physiology course offered at this school.
You will see many courses offered elsewhere which are a lot longer. This is because they usually include Anatomy & Physiology training and other elements which we require as pre-requisites. This course is essentially designed for beauty / holistic therapists with some previous training in this field.
