Developing your fashion identity
This course offers you the chance to learn the essential stages of research and development and how to transform these ideas into designs for a capsule fashion collection. It will help guide you through the skills needed to work to a given brief, identify your customer and undertaking creative research using the fantastic resources available within the AUCB library’s fashion collection. Producing a sketchbook that contains your initial ideas, you will be encouraged to explore a range of ideas before identifying your unique area of research and inspiration.
Through a series of practical sessions, you will be shown how to turn your ideas into inspirational sketchbook research, how to use fabrics, colour and texture in your design work and develop a theme for your collection based on your ideas. You will be shown how fashion designers present their ideas to clients through mood boards, colour boards and design sketches. Different styles of illustration will be demonstrated and you will be encouraged to identify your own style through a series of practical workshop sessions.
With guidance from your tutor you will develop a capsule collection of 6 outfits, giving consideration to your theme, the customer & client brief, suitable fabrics and illustrate your final ideas to be presented in a critique at the end of the course.
This course is suitable for those students wishing to explore their creative potential through Fashion Design and for those students wishing to pursue a career in the Fashion Industry.
Booking opens 13th June for the autumn term commencing 3rd October.
