    This exciting two-year Foundation degree is distinctive within the UK, and replaces our widely and very highly respected HND Practical Archaeology, which has a record of excellence stretching back over 25 years. The Foundation degree course equips successful students with the knowledge and skills to enter a career in archaeology, or to continue their studies for an Honours degree.

        * Exploring the Historic Environment: Past and Present
        * Study, Communication and Research Skills
        * Field Archaeology
        * Practical Field Archaeology
        * Applied Study and Archaeological Methods 1
        * Archaeological Placement (5 weeks)

    Year 2

        * Theory in Contemporary Archaeology
        * Reconstruction of Environment and Economy
        * Post-Excavation: Data Analysis
        * Applied Field Methods (four to five-week field school)
        * Applied Study and Archaeological Methods 2
        * Research Methods and Project Management
        * Personal Fieldwork Project
