  This challenging, full-time or part time programme provides an opportunity for students to gain both a degree at Masters Level and a professional quali?cation in Youth and Community Work. The programme combines practical ?eldwork experience with academic study.
  
  Module Information:
  
  The programme offers a stimulating and challenging series of taught modules:
  
  Issues and Interventions 1 – Youth & Community Work Context, Principles and Practice
  
  Issues and Interventions 2 – Social Divisions and Anti Discriminatory Practice in Youth & Community Work
  
  Developing Interpersonal Communication and Groupwork
  
  Management in Youth & Community Work
  
  Professional Practice: Fieldwork Placements and Intervention Skills
  
  Programme structure
  
  Full-Time 1 Year
  
  Semester A:  Students study ?ve taught modules 2 days a week in College; plus students spend 120 hours on placement.
  
  Semester B:  Students undertake a twelve week Block Placement from February to May.
  
  Part-time 2 Years
  
  Semester A:  3 Modules 1 day a week
  
  Semester B:  120 hours of placement (10 hours per week for 12 weeks)
  
  Semester A:  2 modules 1 day per week
  
  Semester B:  420 hours: block placement (35 hours per week for 12 weeks)
  
  On completion of the block placement and having successfully completed all the assessed work students may choose to accept a Postgraduate Diploma (with JNC) or continue working towards the award of MA, the dissertation for which is written on a part-time basis in the following academic year; (or students can interrupt and undertake their Masters dissertation at a later date within a ?ve year period).
