  • Course description
    The course provides education and training for graduates in the research methods, sources and key theoretical concepts for the interdisciplinary study of culture, with particular emphasis on cultural heritages.

    There are a number of core and optional modules and you are expected to gain 60 credits for a Postgraduate Certificate, 120 credits for a Postgraduate Diploma and 180 credits (including a dissertation) for the MRes. Core subjects include: Information, Writing and Communication, Sources and Methodologies, Research Environment. Optional subjects include: Theory and Cultural Practice, Entrepreneurship. A unique feature of the course are the directed research modules: Exploration and Inquiry (semester 1) and Development (semester 2), which are directly connected with the Dissertation.

    Duration and Mode of Attendance

    Full-timePostgraduate Diploma: two semesters.
    MRes: one year (two semesters plus dissertation)

    Part-timePostgraduate Certificate: normally one year of study
    Postgraduate Diploma: two years.

    MRes: two years (four semesters), followed by a dissertation
    Those lectures/seminars/tutorials not delivered on-line or as individually scheduled supervision will normally be scheduled as a combination of class sessions, intensive day-schools and excursions
