  • Objectives
The programme aims to prepare students for a career as an Incorporated Engineer in the fast moving world of modern engineering. The Incorporated Engineer plays a significant role in the engineering industry from manufacturing through to design, development and testing.
  • Entry requirements
Entry requirements 180 UCAS points. This should including mathematics and a physical science subject at A-level, or a National Diploma in engineering at MMP, or equivalent qualifications; 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English, mathematics and science) or equivalent
  • Academic title
    Mechanical Engineering Technology, BEng Hons
  • Course description
The programme is designed to provide students with a broad range of skills in mechanical engineering. With a strong application focus, students develop skills for using equipment and techniques and become familiar with how practical and analytical techniques can be applied to real situations.

The first year of the programme provides a sound foundation to the fundamentals of engineering, both practical and analytical. The Engineering Applications course develops practical skills and is enhanced by study of mathematics, mechatronics and computing. Engineering principles are developed in the second and final years where there is also significant emphasis on the applications of computers in engineering.

Students undertake a major project in the final year that allows them to demonstrate their technical and analytical abilities by working on a real practical situation.
