This course can be taken as a one year full-time course, which is ideal if you are at the start of your marketing career. You can also choose to take the flexible part-time course, which is designed for those already in marketing positions who wish to study without taking a career break.
  • Entry requirements
    Entry requirements You'll need: -a good honours degree (minimum 2:2) from a recognised Higher Education institution or equivalent from a recognised overseas institution, or -several years marketing or general business experience. If English is not your first language, you will also need to demonstrate your English Language proficiency. For example, you should have either: -A minimum grade of 6.5 overall on the British Council International English Language Test (IELTS) -A TOEFL score of at least 600 (written scale) or 250 (computer scale)

    Content

    Core modules

    For both routes, you'll take five core modules:

    -Marketing Strategy
    -Buyer Behaviour
    -Market Research
    -Communication Strategy
    -Business Information for Marketing

    Option modules

    You'll also be able to choose three additional subjects from the option modules*, allowing you to specialise in areas relevant to your chosen career path:

    -Global Marketing
    -Market Research Applications
    -Customer Relationship Management
    -Interactive Marketing
    * The availability of option modules is subject to demand.

    Dissertation

    In addition to these modules, your dissertation gives you the chance to research an area of marketing of particular interest to you and of relevance to your career or company.

    Teaching and learning
    You'll learn though formal classes and seminar sessions, as well as through group work and independent study. The work will include assignments, exercises, case studies and presentations with an emphasis on independent learning to develop your problem solving skills.

    Full-time attendance

    If you opt for the full-time course, you'll attend the Business School for one year.

    Part-time attendance

    The part-time route lets you fit study around work and family commitments. It usually runs over three years, during which you will attend four-day workshops, run four times a year, along with your own independent study. You'll also need to attend exams for some of the modules. The third year is devoted to your dissertation.

    Assessment
    Assessment is through supervised mini-projects, presentations, time-constrained assignments and examinations.
