  • Course description
This course is part of a group of MSc awards that cover the key areas of total quality, health and safety, and environmental management. It is designed to teach safety professionals how to plan, organise, implement and monitor safety, health and environmental management in the workplace. You will also develop managerial skills in resources, people, information and finance.

This award is specifically designed to enable the progression of National Examinations Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH Diploma),
or equivalent graduates, to a professionally recognised postgraduate qualification. The University of Glamorgan benefits from a strategic
partnership with Corporate Health and Safety Solutions (CHSS) who are internationally recognised as providers of NEBOSH certificate and

    Diploma courses.

If you successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) element of the course (120 out of 180 credits) and have appropriate experience, you will be able to apply for graduate membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Successful completion of the dissertation (MSc) will enable you to apply for chartered membership of IOSH, using the MSc dissertation as
your Skills Development Portfolio (SDP), which is a requirement for the Initial Professional Development (IPD) Scheme. This is an essential qualification for safety practitioners who need to manage safety and integrate the demands of corporate development and legislation. The course has been developed with the expertise of staff within the Division, which has been recognised by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) as a
Centre of Excellence for Quality in Education.
