Entry requirements
Entrants should hold a first degree and/or a postgraduate qualification in social work or allied profession. Applicants who are professionally qualified but who do not hold a degree level qualification may ask for special consideration when applying. Entrants are also expected to have two years’ experience in social work or related professional practice.

Course description
This programme expands the continuing professional development of qualified social workers or allied professionals working in the field of health and social care and enhances service provision to vulnerable adults living in the community, in residential settings and attending day care. The programme consists of 60 credits, made up of four compulsory taught courses; a further two units which lead to the diploma, and ultimately for those eligible, to Masters level which is achieved on satisfactory completion of the dissertation. Flexibility of structure allows candidates to exit the programme at the end of the certificate or diploma stages.
How You Will Be Taught
Flexible delivery includes classroom, online and individual learning. Core subject areas covered include: evidence based practice, legislation and policy, risk and protection, effective and ethical practice across all areas of adult protection. Candidates have the opportunity to focus upon their own area of practice delivery in their application of theoretical perspectives. Assessment for each unit involves a range of different activities. Entrants should hold a first degree and/or a postgraduate qualification in social work or related area. The programme will be run via flexible delivery. This will involve both classroom sessions and online learning. Classroom sessions will include a range of presentation, discussion and practical exercises. Online learning will be facilitated through an on-line tutor. Students will be expected to take forward their learning through independent study and application in the workplace setting.
