    General information

    This course is designed for Beauty Therapists already holding the Level 2 recognised qualification, wanting to broaden their existing skills to meet today's industry requirements. An intensive full time course delivered over 1 day/evening in college and a minimum of 21 hours a week, paid working in a salon. Majority of assessments will be done in the workplace. This course is available as a Work Based learning programme to those already employed in the industry, who wish to add to their existing qualification and develop their skills.

    Course content

    Units include:

        * Health and safety
        * Promote additional products or services to clients
        * Financial effectiveness
        * Swedish Body Massage
        * Facial electrical treatments
        * Body electrical treatments
        * Electrolysis
        * plus one additional unit(TBA). 
        * Level 2 key skills in Application of numbers and communication.

    Teaching and assessment

    All Beauty Therapy programmes are assessed through a combination of the following: observation of practical assessments on clients/peers, assignments, projects and case studies, written and oral questions, building a portfolio of evidence to be submitted for assessment at the completion of the programme. Practical assessments will be carried out in the workplace.

    Classroom based sessions to deliver the theory areas and anatomy & physiology required for the qualification. Students follow study guides in each area of the qualification, Practical sessions involve training and practice on other students within the group, moving on to assessments on clients working within a realistic commercial environment. Assessment opotunities in the workplace.

    Employment in the Beauty Therapy industry Beauty Salons, Health Spa, Cruise liners, Airlines.
