This programme aims to familiarise you with a systems approach to working with couples and families, the principles underlying this and the main approaches used in systemic practice.
Entry requirements This foundation-level course is aimed at a broad range of participants who have a relevant professional background such as nursing, social work, psychiatry or teaching, and who are working with families or couples within the context of their profession.
Systemic Practice with Families and Couples* (Graduate Certificate)
You will follow a critical approach to the theory and practice of inequalities and differences of race, class and gender which is encouraged to stimulate an anti-discriminatory stance with regard to work with clients.
Lectures, small practice-based experiential groups, group workshops and plenaries.
You will be expected to complete two written assignments, make a presentation to a small group and present a portfolio of learning. You will also complete a clinical log describing your work with families. The final assessment is based on the second written assignment.
