Entry Requirements:
You will need four GCSEs at D or above or a Level 1 vocational qualification. You must show a strong interest in art and design and will need to provide visual evidence by either presenting a portfolio of work or a project set by the College at interview stage.

Course Description:

This course is for students who are at the start of their careers and who need a broad vocational introduction to art and design. It aims to develop design skills including painting and drawing, contextual studies, sculpture, 3D graphics/digital imaging, time based media and key skills.

How is the course taught:
This Course is taught using lectures, practical demonstration and individual responses to design briefs. Students will work in a variety of classroom settings according to the disciplines being taught. A variety of field trips and gallery visits will be conducted over the year.

Assessment:
Assessment both formative and summative will be conducted at regular times throughout the year to assist in the successful completion of core and specialist Units.

Course leads to:
BTEC Award and Certificate courses in graphics, fashion or fine art.
