  • Objectives
    This course is designed for those who intend to work in the high quality commission-led sector of the industry, or who aim to set up their own business as designers and makers of furniture. There is strong emphasis on making skills across a range of techniques and materials supported by relevant drawing and design modules. The possibilities offered by new digital technologies for craft are also introduced and a dedicated module develops skills in recording and presenting design and practical work professionally. Successful completion of specific modules with the required grades guarantees progression to level 3 of the BA (Hons) in Furniture and Product Design, or level 3 of the BA (Hons) in Restoration and Conservation.
  • Entry requirements
    You will normally be 18 years of age or older before commencing the course. You will be required to present a portfolio of work at interview. You must also have attained GCSE grade C in English Language, key skills qualification level 3 or similar, plus one of the following: - 100 points from one or more A-levels, plus three other subjects at GCSE grade or one of the following: - GNVQ at advanced level with a pass grade - BTEC National Diploma or Certificate - An Art and Design Foundation course - A recognised Access course
