Comments about Advanced Diploma Gestalt Therapy Theory Studies - At the institution - London - Greater London
This one-year course offers an excellent introduction to the experience and concepts of Gestalt Therapy. It will be of interest to those who want to gain in-depth experience of individual and group practice and theory for their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits and their personal development. For example, it would be suitable for those who work in primary care, in management and organisational consulting, in counselling or therapy, or those who want to join the MA course but do not have enough knowledge or experience of the Gestalt method or who do not have a relevant first degree or equivalent. Introducing you to Gestalt Therapy theory and practice, practical and personal learning takes place in the training groups and in individual therapy. You will be studying Gestalt texts and writing essays in order to gain a thorough understanding of the theory and philosophy, from the ability to analyse and discuss group processes to learning about self and self in relation to others.
Applicants must have a level of maturity and should have: a professional qualification in the fields of mental health, social work, counselling, health or education; experience of work in the above fields; a high level of communication skills both oral and written; a capacity and openness for personal exploration and ability to respond appropriately to feedback.
For applicants to the MA Programme who do not fulfil the entry requirements of a relevant first degree or equivalent and/or previous Gestalt therapy experience, this year provides access to the MA.
The Gestalt Centre is committed to broadening access to the profession of psychotherapy, and welcomes applications from people who do not meet the above criteria. Where this is the case, entry will be considered following the principles of Approval of Prior Experience and Learning, (APEL).
