  • Objectives * Opportunities to design and create dynamic textiles and products to be worn on and around the body * Builds on the combined knowledge of textile design and fashion skills and the interplay between textiles and accessories for the body.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Students should normally have a good portfolio, plus one of the following: * Successful completion of an Art and Design Foundation Course * National Diploma merit profile in a relevant subject * 240 points, to include two GCE/VCE A Levels with grade C in at least one art or design subject. Applications from mature students (21+) with alternative qualifications and/or work experience are welcomed.

    Programme

    This course provides students with the opportunity to design and realise innovative textiles and accessories for the body. You will explore image, placement, colour and textile materials in the broadest context possible throughout the course.

    There is a strong emphasis on visual research and interpretation. All design work will be underpinned with a diverse range of textile and fashion skills. This will include access to the Faculty's CAD suites and digital and screen print processes. You will explore knitted and woven techniques, machine, digital and surfaced fabrics, prototyping, 3-D development and fashion illustration. Through the diverse skill base, students will be encouraged to produce experimental and highly individual work to adorn the body. They will work to external and competition briefs to produce contemporary and contextual design, as well developing self-negotiated briefs for ground breaking unique work.
