Course - Graphic Design - Level 4

  • Entry requirements This course is for students 19 years old and over. You will normally be expected to have the following in addition to a portfolio of Art & Design work, related National Certificate or Diploma with at least two A passes or appropriate work experience.
  • Academic title BTEC (Edexcel) Higher National Certificate
  • Course description     Each student is encouraged to take an additional qualification as well as the main programme of study.

        This course provides a foundation for a range of careers in graphics and related industries, including design for advertising, desktop publishing, illustration and packaging. There is also a significant multimedia and web design component to the course.

    Course Structure:
        The course consists of a mixture of lectures, practical exercises, and a fully integrated programme in which the contents of each unit are brought together in assignments and projects. Students will be expected to attend College for the timetabled minimum requirements, currently two days per week.

    Course resources:
        Brand new Apple Mac facilities including printing and scanning; programmes include Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, In Design, GoLive and Quark Express.

    Assessment:
        Continuous assessment every six weeks with visual and written portfolio evidence and short written assignments.
