Course - NVQ2 in Children's Care, Learning & Development Level 2

  • Entry requirements Entry requirements This is a rolling programme, so you can join this course at designated periods throughout the year, the length of the course is one year. An interview. Voluntary or paid employment in a registered child care setting consisting of 10-12 hours contact time per week. A CRB check is mandatory for all students attending this course. Without one, students will be unable to complete a work placement which is an integral part of the qualification.

  • Course description General information

    This is a programme for those who are new to the childcare sector or who are already working with children. It is designed as a qualification for nursery nurse assistants who will work under the management of nursery nurses, although there will be expectations of a proactive involvement in the children's development.

    Course content

    Units:

        * Contribute to positive relationships
        * Help to keep children safe
        * Support children's development
        * Use support to develop own practice in children's care,learning and development
        * Prepare and maintain environments
        * Support children's play and learning

    Plus one option unit which you choose with your assessor

    Teaching and assessment

    You will attend workshops that provide you with the underpinning knowledge that will aid you in the completion of a portfolio by the end of one year. The workshops are carried out at The Hawthorn Learning Centre, Hawthorn Grove, Penge on alternate Thursdays 9.30am-1.00pm.   An assessor will be assigned to you and they will come out to your place of work and assess you in practice.

    Progression

    In order to progress to Level 3 the students must have gained two years professional working experience in the childcare sector and be in a position of supervision of staff and children.
