    Programme

This course explores the creative design process for womenswear from research, through to garment realisation. The techniques of pattern development and garment manufacture support this process and are key to successful 2 and 3D design realisation. It has been design for committed learners with a keen interest in the fashion product. The unique aspects of the programme include the opportunity for students to develop your skills according to your career aspirations through negotiation of the elective units you select in year two.

Your own personal and professional development will be a key aspect throughout the course. The curriculum is delivered through credit framework units, one large unit of study per term supported by a smaller, often theoretical, unit. All units are explored through a project brief. Core skills throughout this course are undertaken in specialist workshops equipped with state of the art machinery.

You will learn alongside the other courses within the FdA Fashion Design Technology programme as well as FdA Cordwainers Footwear and FdA Cordwainers Accessories for the more academic areas of study too. This will enable you to learn from eachother and gain invaluable insight into other disciplines within fashion design.

This interdisciplinary opportunity also occurs through project design research and critiques providing an enriching experience through greater understanding of the concept of the fashion industries. The course has strong industrial links and project briefs in both year 1 and year 2 are simulated work based learning units of study.
