ObjectivesTo provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to engage critically and creatively with the theory and practice of museum education and visitor studies, and develop their professional practice as museum educators and researchers.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Normally at least a good second class honours degree or equivalent, or a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience. In addition, many applicants will have some experience, often in a voluntary capacity, of working in museums, galleries, or related organisations.

Teaching and assessment methods
Students undertake a programme of supported, self-directed study. Most of the materials necessary to complete the course are mailed to the students, with further materials available online. Support is provided by a team of specialist tutors. An optional summer school offers opportunities for face-to-face interaction and networking. The course is continuously assessed. Students who achieve the required standard and who wish to work towards a Masters degree, complete a dissertation.
