  • Objectives This course has been developed in close consultation with senior producers in film and television and has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, specialised skills and tools that will enable you to manage film and television productions. You will have the opportunity to learn about producing in both the film and television industries and will be able to specialise in your study of one of these dynamic sectors. You will learn the skills and techniques of research within an industry context that will ensure you can balance creative projects with a business-orientated focus. The unique approach of this course lies in its emphasis on the theory which underpins film and television producing practice. The course offers a programme of work designed to enable the new producer to survive in a tough and competitive industry.

    Four key industry-related concepts underpin this programme:

    Creative thought: The ability of the producer to analyse the creative needs of a script, encourage and develop the work of writers and directors and improve the overall package to realise a film’s full potential.

    Communication and Relationships: The need for producer to be able to form and maintain relationships within all sectors of the business world.
