  • Objectives These programmes focus on core themes of current debates in organisational theory and behaviour, including intra-organisational and inter-organisational issues. The programmes give a sound knowledge of a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and techniques used in management and organisational analysis. They will enable you to develop a critical understanding of major issues in contemporary organisational and management studies.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Good honours degree or equivalent in a related area. Two references: either from an academic source and a past or present employer, or two from an academic source. Non-native speakers need to provide proof of English language ability.

  • Course description The aim of this programme is to provide students with a critical research-based understanding of a broad range of key issues in organizational theory and behaviour, with the opportunity of specialising in a particular area of study. Specifically, it aims to develop students' capacity to analyse organizational problems, both in conceptual and practical terms, and to carry out research in terms of critical appraisal, theory development and the application of theories, concepts and principles. The programme will enable students to develop a clear understanding of organizational issues and the multi-disciplinary context in which this knowledge exists, and give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge of a specialised area of organizational analysis.

    In addition to the compulsory module(s) in Research Methods in Management appropriate to the degree level, students on these programmes are required to take two further compulsory modules - Principles of Organization and Management and Issues in Organizational Theory and Behaviour. They must then choose one module from a list of core modules, and their final two modules are a free choice. The dissertation must be written in the field of organizational analysis.
