MSc in Forensic Psychology (BPS accredited)

  • Objectives To equip the student with a sound knowledge and understanding of a broad range of topics in forensic psychology in such a way as to provide a sound basis for further professional training and practice.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements A good first degree (upper second or above) or other qualification recognised as providing the Graduate Basis for Registration of the British Psychological Society. Some relevant work experience (voluntary or otherwise) is also required.

    -Juvenile Delinquency
    -Legal Psychology
    -Criminology
    -Research Methods
    -Psychology and the Courts
    -Assessment and Treatment of Criminal Behaviour
    -Placement (8 weeks)
    -Dissertation (based on an empirical study)

    Teaching and assessment methods
    Teaching is through lectures and seminars. Students can gain some limited practical experience on a short placement in a forensically related setting (prison, regional secure unit, local police etc.). Each module is assessed by written assignments including a placement report and a research dissertation.
