  • Objectives
    Sports Product Design is about the design and manufacture of products for the sport and leisure industry. It requires an understanding of biomechanics and how the body interacts with sporting equipment. You will learn about the latest materials used and how to make the products. You cover both the scientific and technological aspects relevant to the sports environment. Sports products include the equipment and facilities used in sport, which all plays an important role in maximising athletic potential of individuals. We examine how sporting equipment is designed and manufactured to enhance comfort, performance and safety.
  • Entry requirements
    You should have GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or equivalent), plus one of the following: at least 240 points from two or more A-levels, including any Physical Science or Biology, Physical Education, Design and Technology or Geography; or at least 240 points from two A-levels in Science; or a pass in BTEC National Diploma in Science with four merits in the final year excluding common skills.
