  • Course description
This course offers the opportunity for study and research across the full range of Civil Engineering. Staff available for supervising research projects cover a similarly wide range including structural mechanics, materials, hydraulics, urban drainage, geotechnics and management.

    Future prospects

This programme of study is ideal for students wishing to pursue an academic or research-orientated career, and for those seeking employment within the public and private sector.

    Course content

The course aims to provide an opportunity for gaining a research qualification in Civil Engineering via a route that is shorter and more flexible than an MPhil or PhD, but which has more research emphasis than a taught Master's. It is suitable for both full-time and part-time students, and is particularly suitable for part-time students in employment who wish to carry out research on a work-related topic.
