    What does it include?
    On this course you will learn about:

    - Produced Print Based Media
    - Page Layout and Design
    - Speech Package Production and Music Based Programming
    - Pre-production Techniques
    - Audio-Visual Editing Techniques and Technology
    - Single Camera Techniques
    - Designing Idents for TV


    Using challenging live project briefs you will learn how to understand the media and communications industry. Learning a range of technical skills and production methods and knowledge that follow industrial practice you will produce different media products for magazine editorials, entertainment websites and promotional materials, 2 D animation production, designing idents for TV. You will be taught by a team of dedicated lecturers in our excellent purpose-built digital media and production facilities awarded Skillset Academy for digital media status awarded by the Learning & Skills Council. Visiting lecturers with industry experience will deliver specific specialist areas to help enhance your learning.

    We believe that it is important to support you so that you can pursue a future career in the media industry, so the course will include helping you to improve and develop your communication skills with additional Key Skills qualification study. Like all students you will receive group and individual tutorial support to keep you on track and if needed additional learning support is available.

    What do I need to get on to it?

    Ideally applicants should possess relevant level 2 qualifications; 4 GCSEs at grade C, or an equivalent vocational qualification with a Merit grade. Entry onto the course is by interview.
    You will need to bring with you some examples of your work to interview that you would like to talk about, a reference from school or college and your National Record of Achievement. At interview you should demonstrate potential to benefit from this course.

    Where does it lead?
    On successful completion of the course students usually progress into HE study on BTEC HND/HNC, Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) courses or pursue employment opportunities.
