    Course Description

This course aims to help you pass two Vista exams from Microsoft. Exam 70-260 is the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) exam. Exam 70-263 is the The Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Consumer Support Technician (MCITP). These two exams are aimed at IT technicians who need to support users of Vista. This course will teach you how to solve problems with Vista operating systems and applications software such as Office and Outlook, how to solve network problems, how install Vista and networks, how to set up systems so they are usable, and how to support the end users of Microsoft systems. Please note we do not offer Microsoft exams at the college, we prepare you for the exams but you must then book yourself into an exam centre to take the Microsoft exams. However, you can get a BTEC qualification from this course. This course is ideal for those wishing to pursue a career in IT Technical support.

What does the course lead to?

The college offers a BTEC unit qualification from this course, that is if you pass the coursework and the end of course exam.  The fees for this are included in the course fee.  The units we offer are taken from the BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners, so you could use these units plus further study to build up to the complete Diploma.

The College does not itself offer the Microsoft exams – for these exams you will need to book yourself in to a commercial exam centre, which you can do online.

After this course you will be able to seek work as an IT Technician or in IT Support, or you can study further in the areas of PC Repair or Networking.
