  • Entry requirements
    Who is this course for? Adults aged 19 or over on 31 August 2006 who wish to start a degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences in September 2007. What do I need to get on the course? This course starts later than the usual Access course and therefore applicants must be able to cope with the heavier academic demands that this course will make on them. Acceptance to the course will be based on a written language assessment and interview. You will be expected to show clear Level 3 ability in the written assessment, and the capacity to cope with a heavy study commitment in the interview.
  • Academic title
    OCN LR (Open College Network London Region ) Access Certificate if successful, or a record of those credits achieved. The Access certificate is recognised by most universities as an adult equivalent qualification to the A-levels or vocational qualifications which younger students have to achieve in order to enter higher education.

    A fast-track introduction to Social Science and Humanities to prepare you for entry to university in September.

    What will I study?

    A general introduction to social science and humanities to prepare you for entry to university in September. You will study study skills, history, literature and politics. You will also receive general tutorial support and advice, and help with your application to to university. This is an intensive, shorter Access course for applicants able to cope with a demanding workload at this level.

    What can I do after the course?
    You may progress onto university immediately, or may decide to wait for a year or two before entering. The Modular Access Programme at City and Islington College is regarded highly by many universities and students may be able to choose from several offers by different universities.
