  • Course description
    This courses leads to Certificates in GYM and Exercise and Fitness Knowledge Level 2.  It is also accredited with Central YMCA qualifications and carries 24 accredited REPS points.  Once qualified, you will be recognised at Level 2 on the Register of Exercise Professionals.

    What does it include?
    You will study the following:
    -Planning, teaching and evaluating exercise sessions in the gym.
    -Cardio pulmonary resuscitation and responding to emergencies.
    -Health and safety responsibilities.
    -The theoretical knowledge essential for fitness instructors; anatomy and physiology, components of fitness, principles of training.
    -Resistance training plans including use of fixed machines and free weights.
    -Cardiovascular training plans.
    -Methods of encouraging regular participation.
    -Providing customer service.

    Where does it lead?

    The course provides you with the qualification you need to plan, teach and evaluate exercise sessions in a gym unsupervised.

    What do I need to get onto it?
    To be a minimum age of 18 years. The applicant must be enthusiastic and show an interest in fitness and health.
